Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is famous for her performance in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano was a huge success and won her many awards including an Oscar. Her career began by acting on Broadway and Off Broadway. From the age of a child she's always been very passionate about acting. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. She became deaf in one ear following a bout of the mumps virus, however she did not have this limitation deter her drive to become an actress. At the age of 16, she took classes in drama at college, and then moved to New York City from Pittsburgh in order to fulfill her dream. A chance meeting led her to became stuck in an elevator with writer Beth Henley and the two joined forces to create the Broadway Crimes of the Heart the play that would become Hunter's debut. Following her move into Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure the role of a co-star as a character Swing Shift. For the last 30 years, she has appeared on several TV shows and movies. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
